AP: Steele is Normally a Bombastic Showman
Outspoken and Brassy?
AP writer Liz Sidoti describes Michael Steele as an “outspoken and brassy” GOP Chairman who is “normally a bombastic showman.” He may in fact be that way but that is not what we are seeing reported. We instead watch a guy wait politely for his turn [video] when CNN host D.L. Hughley, with all the gravitas incumbent on his status as a stand-up comic turned political pundit, calls the Republican Party conventioneers Nazis. Granted, Steele did show some bombast in that interview, but unfortunately the target was Rush Limbaugh, whose show, according to Mr. Steele, can be incindiary and ugly.
I am afraid what we may have in store for us is the type of fight you might see if Ghandi tried his passive resistance against a foe like Al-Qaeda instead of the civilized British. And although I am sure Mr. Steele is making the effort to push through the filtering of the pro-Obama press to make his criticisms heard, when you find 10 times as many stories with “Michael Steele Defends” in the headline than with “Michael Steele Attacks” it is not unfair to say he is not succeeding.
