Has Org. for America Given Up on Older White Men?

15 August 2010 2 Comments

Here is a YouTube video that Organizing for America has put out to rally supporters for the midterms.

One message here seems to be “you older white guys with jobs, mortgages, and families, we’ve just given up trying to sell you on our policies. ” I mean look at this video. In 90 seconds of showing grinning hopeful faces not a single one of them is an older white male.

Obama supporters: you should be asking yourself what does your Dad know about the world and the president’s policies that you don’t. And why can’t the president win him over?

Heck, why doesn’t he even try?

** Update **

This is really becoming quite comical. Here is another “get out the vote” video from OFA:

So again we see the dozens of smiling hopeful faces, now more resolute and businesslike. And again there is not one single older white male among them.

Marketers produce specific assets for specific demographics, and these two videos are aimed at the younger supporters. But for a party that wants parity of result, in which every venture contains people who “look like America” there is an enormous gap you can drive three 18 wheelers through side-by-side: where are all the older white working men?

Haven’t you seen the exact same thing in recent Verizon commercials? For example, find the Y chromosome in this commercial:

    Good luck! ;)

    Also, notice this Verizon commercial:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1MjDxd_BbE

It starts with a young woman but around 21 seconds into the commercial the focus changes to a youngish black male who resembles a certain US politician…pause it at 0:25 if you want to make it really obvious. Obama – the most powerful transmitter. Heh…
