About
Etymology of “BulletPeople”
My 4 daughters and 1 son were young, none more than 11 years old, when we took them to their first company Christmas party in 1992. It was held at a country club. As we entered the reception hall we passed at a distance a bar with 20 stools, and 15 patrons standing around in various casual poses, holding drinks, chatting quietly. The kids attention was wholly focused on these benign individuals, who took no notice of us as we passed by many yards away. When we took our seats the kids were talking excitedly and lowly to each other. Finally the oldest leaned over and asked us “did you see those bullet people?” Apparently this was the first time they had seen a bar, with barstools, and people holding drinks, and so they concluded that like all the people they had ever seen on TV in bars, these folk were neer-do-well criminals carrying guns planning their next act of mayhem as all “bullet people” do in bars.
Why name the site “BulletPeople”
So my kids can always remember being young, being with their family, and how much we love them.

I wish I had a specific clip in mind, but there ought to been some worthwhile veins to mine out of the TV series M*A*S*H. I am a former liberal who never really forgot that “liberal” stems from the same root word as “liberty”; that the Constitution was written for the benefit of ALL of “WE, THE PEOPLE”; and that any assistance you receive when you’ve been dropped or knocked or even beaten down to the ground on your backside — yes, these things do happen — is supposed to be temporary, to give you a chance to get back up and get back at it. That goes for assistance from family and from not-for-profit organizations as well as for assistace from the public domain. There — you just got a sneak preview of a supporting theme from the book I’m working on.
By the way, good going with using material from Jack Webb’s stuff. I recall that he was keenly aware of the power he wielded with his stoneface humor (kind of like President “Silent Cal” Calvin Coolidge).
Could you let me know if you find something useful from M*A*S*H? I know it’s a liberal posting, but turning its cutting wit onto some of today’s so-called “liberal” policies would really bring out the flavor of whatever you can grille there.
Oh, for the tally books, I am not a conservative, either. I am simply a patriot determined to find and to tell the truth. I can catalog plenty of “conservative” blows against freedom and the Constitution in the post-FDR era.
Some say this is the funniest joke ever told. And it should fit well with the current political environment (a little bit long, but the final joke could be clipped short). I think there is a ton of stuff you could use from the Tonight Show w/ Carson if you just look around long enough.
